The Heart and Soil of Oregon Wines at DiVino Wine Studio (wine dinner)

Though its post-Prohibition wine industry is barely 50 years old, Oregon has established itself on the international stage with elegant wines produced with Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, as well as other noble varieties. These wines benefit from a moderate climate plus rich volcanic soils, yielding structured wines with fresh fruit flavours and bright acidity.

Wine student and Oregon expat Denise Eisner will highlight wines made in several of Oregon's six American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) with a multi-course menu paired with six wines.

OLIVE OIL SEMINARS

No other country is more closely associated with olive oil than Italy. The olive tree was introduced into southern Italy by Greeks circa 600 BC, but it was the Romans who spread olive culture throughout the Mediterranean and mastered its cultivation and extraction. So cherished was olive oil that by the 4th Century AD, the City of Rome, itself, had 2,300 olive oil distributors!
Today Italy boasts more olive oil DOPs than any other country. (DOP=Denominazione Origine Protetta)

Join our local olive oil enthusiast as we taste and explore the Italian world of extra virgin olive oil. We will taste oils in several price ranges and discuss: history, cultivation, processing methodologies, terminology, cultivars and regional differences, the global market and finally, how to taste, assess and compare different oils.

Sunday, September 28, 2008
2:00 - 3:00 pm
225 Preston Street
$45 + tax
The seminar includes a tasting of 6 oils accompanied by two appetizers and a glass of wine.
