Kate received her sommelier accreditation from Algonquin College, where she developed a passion for the lesser known, including indigenous Italian grape varieties and Canadian wines (well known here but not in her native New England). Kate also writes about being a sommelier on the /Ottawa Citizen/ blog “Wine and the City,” and she pens wine-related articles for the /Citizen/ as a freelance writer.
